Transformer Taps in EASE 5
EASE Evac and EASE Address have the ability to select the transformer tap directly for loudspeakers that have transformers included in the GLL data. To adjust levels in EASE 5 for devices with transformer tap settings use the Gain [dB] level setting under Filter Configuration for the Properties of either a Loudspeaker or Processing Block as follows:
First determine if the GLL uses the highest tap for the reference or if they use the low impedance setting. If it is the tap setting, then it is easy, the highest tap is 0 dB, and you subtract 3dB for each lower setting. If they use the low impedance setting, then you must first convert from that level to the highest tap level, then subtract 3dB per tap as above. The manufacturer of the loudspeaker should be able to tell you how they have created the data and assist you with this.
Example:
Let's say the device has 4 taps, 2W, 1W, 1/2W, 1/4W. Then the 2W tap will be 0dB, the 1W will be -3dB, the 1/2W will be -6dB, and the 1/4W will be -9dB. If the reference is to the low impedance setting, and that is 20W for max SPL, then you need to subtract an additional 10dB from each tap. (10 * Log10(20 / 2))
